Decide which animal landscape you would like to create--We chose a lion! Try and think of animals with features that would be easy to recreate (hippo, pig, dog, giraffe)
Start creating your background using light colors for the sky etc. This is a great time to explain the where the foreground, middle-ground, and background are!
Start creating your foreground, keeping the placement of the animal in mind.
Add your animal! Start with their head/body first.
Start adding simple details like eyes, mouth, nose.
Beautiful abstract painting using marbles.
Marbles, paint, cup, white paper, plastic spoons
Have the children dip the marbles into the paint.
Have the children scoop the marbles out of the paint into their own cup
Flip the cup upside down so the rim is on the white paper
Move the cup around in a chaotic manner so the marbles are moved throughout the paper creating a spin art effect!
Results with 1 color. Repeat the process with different colors.
Beautiful abstract marble painting!
Create this beautiful cypress landscape by following the directions in this slideshow. Click the right arrow to begin>>
Chalk (White or colored), Tempera Paint (any color, 1 color or more), 1 sheet white paper, 1 sheet purple paper, 1 sheet brown paper, and a pencil.
Using a pencil, draw a curvy line on the brown paper to represent the foreground. Do the same for the purple paper for the hills mountains. Cut both out.
To add a cypress tree, use some of the darker paper scraps and cut out a shape resembling a cypress. Use the chalk and paint technique or a crayon to apply the dark green color.
Starting with the sky, dip chalk into either white or colored tempera paint to create swirling lines. Only paint until the top of the “mountains”.
You can either use a colored piece of chalk dipped into white tempera, or white chalk dipped in colored tempera. Either works fine. Some kids can’t resist the urge to dip their fingers into the mess. It looks great, so let them!
